To decrease my reliance on proprietary software solutions, increase data sovereignty, and reduce subscriptions, I am using Home Assistant: an open-source software package that is like a super “smart home hub.”

I had a great time at Vintage Computer Festival Midwest 2024! I’ve always loved exploring the latest tech, but I still appreciate the roots. I managed to get some fall/winter project materials queued up on the workbench. Our basement rec room is gonna get a healthy dose of 80’s tech.

It’s nothing earth shattering, but I had a problem that needed solving, so I solved it with some code. The solution is not complicated, but I put it on Github anyways. If for no other reason, I can maintain it and always find it there when I need it.
